Review the SOP on Hiring Virtual Staff
Steps
- Interviewing virtual staff is much the same to Interviewing US staff with the difference being we will focus more on their English and teachability rather than their hard skills.
- When interviewing them, it is good to try and lighten the mood with casual conversation before diving into specific questions. The goal for this is to make them more comfortable (working for a US company is a BIG deal for many of these people) and also to get an idea of their English by having a conversation they haven’t rehearsed.
- Good early questions are “What part of X country do you live in?”
- “That’s great! What’s it like there? What kind of things do you like to do?”
- If at this point their English is very poor, you can probably end the interview. If they are speaking well, it is typically best to find VA’s with relevant experience to what you are hiring for.
- The great thing about the Homebuyer business becoming more sophisticated is it is very common to find VAs that have done the exact roles you want them to do in your business.
- If you are utilizing Rocket Station for hiring, many of the candidates will know how to use the software and tools we recommend.
- As you dive into their job history, ask the following:
- Tell me about an achievement you’re really proud of at your past company?
- What were some of the common challenges you faced and how did you solve them?
- It is common for VA’s to have poor problem solving skills and these 2 questions will give you a good idea of how they think on their feet.
- Try to keep VA interviews short and to the point, they can become some of your best team members when you find A players.
