Purpose
The goal of this is to learn to efficiently and accurately interview US based staff. It is assumed you have already read the Hiring based SOP and used Wize Hire to find your applicants. If you didn’t use Wize Hire, many of the same principles will still apply.

Please review the Hiring SOP before interviewing
Steps
- It is recommended you keep your first round of interviews short. Ideally 20 minutes. It is also recommended that you ask all candidates the same questions to keep conversations consistent.
- Start by sending candidates booking links via Calendly or your preferred scheduler asking them to schedule. It is recommended you block ALL interviews together to have a true side by side comparison. We normally do a 2-3 hour block of 20 minute interviews.
- If anyone no shows or reschedules last minute, we consider them an automatic disqualification from the opportunity.
- When interviewing ask the same 3 questions:
- What interests you about this position?
- Can you tell me about a really challenging problem you solved at your old position?
- What do you think you specifically can offer that will make this company better?
- The primary things you are listening for are their problem solving skills, self evaluation, and just general attitude. Normally you’ll know pretty quick if someone will be a good fit or not.
- Once you go through 5-10 interviews, narrow down to 1 or 2 finalists (assuming you liked any of them) and schedule a slightly longer 1 on 1 conversation
- In the longer conversation keep things more free form, talk about job specifics and expectations, hear the candidates goal and expectations.
- After the longer interviews, make your selection.
- IMPORTANT - Always make you offer to your 1st choice before you let others know you went a different direction. This gives you a back up in case the 1st choice isn’t interested or has accepted another position.
- Make the offer over the phone and discuss start date and first day expectations.
- You can plan to get information regarding payroll ect… on the first day.
